Youth Scholarship

The Chitovas & Lawton Foundation Arts Scholarship is a $2,500 bursary awarded each year by the Imperial Theatre to an individual completing their post-secondary education in one or more of the following disciplines: Acting; Dance; Music; Musical Theatre; Technical Theatre; Production Design; Technical Arts; Playwriting; Directing; Set and Costume Design; Theatre Studies. The Imperial Theatre aims to promote equity, inclusion and access through this scholarship and is pleased to continue to enrich young people through this bursary.Below is the Imperial Theatre’s parameters for this scholarship:

• Age 25 and under
• A resident of Lambton-County
• Pursuing arts as post secondary education (Production Design and Technical Arts; Playwriting; Directing; Set and Costume Design; Acting; Dance; Music Theatre)
• Proof of Enrollment in eligible training
• An average of 70%
• Active enrolment in any year of study of their post-secondary education
• Completed Application packages (application form, short essay, letters of recommendation, resume, achievements and experiences) must be received by The Imperial Theatre by August 4th, 2026 at 5pm or earlier.

Auditions/interviews will take place in August. If you have a conflict, online materials will be accepted. The successful applicant will be chosen and announced before the end of August . The successful candidate must provide The Imperial Theatre with a copy of their paid receipt of tuition payments for the upcoming year before receipt of the bursary. Successful candidates agree to be contacted by The Imperial Theatre in respect to this award and acknowledged in future news items by The Imperial Theatre and its affiliates. The Chitovas & Lawton Foundation was created in 2011 by Steve Chitovas and Ron Lawton who believed in the powerful rippling effect of celebrating the arts and that the engagement, inspiration and support of youth in the arts is one of the most powerful ways to improve society. The Chitovas & Lawton Foundation believes that the arts help cities thrive. The arts in all its forms can offer perspective and creative solutions to the challenges we face. The arts inspire, challenge, excite, spark conversations, bridge differences, and so much more. Over the course of the life of the The Chitovas & Lawton Foundation they have disbursed many grants to youth pursuing post secondary education and careers in the entertainment industry.
