What is Anthony’s HOPE?

Anthony’s HOPE (Helping Other People Eat) is held every June at the Imperial Theatre Sarnia.  HOPE is designed to support the Inn of the Good Shepherd by collecting food and monetary donations to support the Inn’s work.

Anthony’s HOPE 2023 is the fourth annual event held in honour of Anthony Fracalanza, a long time Theatre Sarnia member who passed away suddenly in May of 2020 at the age of 31.  In 2022, we gathered 1748 pounds of food, and raised over $2800 cash.

HOPE has two parts - the day of the event there is a food drive, where people are encouraged to drop off food items or monetary donations at the Imperial Theatre (10am - 3pm) for delivery to the Inn of the Good shepherd. There is also an online silent auction where 100% of the proceeds are donated to the Inn.

Auction items can be viewed here Anthony's Hope Auction

ABOUT ANTHONY FRACALANZA

Anthony was a graduate of the Social Worker program at Lambton College, which helped him choose a career that fit well with his outlook on life.  He was a passionate and dedicated employee of the Inn of the Good Shepherd, where he was in charge of Client Services Reception. He had an amazing heart that made him perfect for this role.  He gave endless hours to the Inn’s “Canstruction” fundraiser and the Children’s Christmas event.

For the past fifteen years, he was also very active in our local community theatre, Theatre Sarnia, where he poured his heart and soul into so many projects, especially the Senior Youth Group.  He was beloved for his ability to give his all, wherever he was needed.  His passing will leave the group with a very large hole to fill.

Anthony lived his life with passion and dedication, often considering the needs of others before himself.

ABOUT THE INN OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD

The Inn of the Good Shepherd is an Incorporated Charitable Organization and all donations are income deductible.

The Inn was started in 1981 by a group of people centred in St. John's Anglican Church in Sarnia’s south end, who became concerned with the growing need of the disadvantaged persons in this area.

In time, they were joined by others, so that the Inn is now supported by many Protestant churches and Roman Catholic parishes, as well as Service Groups, individuals, labour, industry and governments.
